Brunei Music Society
The Brunei Music Society (BMS) is now in its 31 st year!
In this wonderful age of communication technology, the BMS is able to link into the worldwide network of musicians, allowing it to invite a wide range of talented artistes to perform here in Brunei Darussalam.
The 2003 programme included the fantastic guitar of Jason Carter followed by the Nova Ensemble from Australia who delighted us with an unusual evening of vibrant music played on the recycled instruments! A concert by the top class pianist, Rosemary Tuck was complemented by 'Double Take', a singer and guitarist duo who wowed us with a fantastic evening of rich, jazzy singing and dynamic finger style guitar playing.
2004 began with a superb dinner concert with music from opera to recent popular shows from Broadway; a great start to the new year's programme.
February hosts another top pianist, Roman Rudnytsky with a wonderfully classical repertoire, followed by a group from Australia called 'The Chambermaids', a wind group. After this watch out for guitar, violin and other exciting musical offerings.
Annual membership of BMS is only $15 which entitles you to prior notification of concerts, priority seat bookings, a chance to meet up with the artists on an informal basis and voting rights at the AGM (which includes a concert and dinner).
You also have access to the extensive BMS CD lending library.
Concert tickets are usually $20 for adults and $7 students. For any queries please contact the BMS secretary, Paul Hirschfield on email: dprhirschfield@brunet.bn

Serunai Singers
If you are free on Monday nights and enjoy singing, come and join us at the International School , Berakas, 7.30 - 9.15pm . We sing choral music from classical to light popular, practising for public and private musical evenings.
We come from all over the world and all walks of life - many who join do not "read" music, we learn from each other.
Each Monday we sing for about 45 minutes, then break for coffee, tea, snacks and a chat, and then sing again till about 9.15. If you are a soprano, alto, tenor or bass and are interested in joining this very happy group of singers please contact Jane Jackets on email : jackets@brunet.bn .
We also invite piano players who would be happy to help us very occasionally as "relief rehearsal pianist" to contact Jane; if you sing and play, so much the better!
If you decide to become a member, we share the costs of our music and rehearsal room by contributing $40 a year - with special arrangements for students.
